What is PIÑATEX® ? 🍍

PIÑATEX® is a vegan leather alternative made from pineapple plant fibers - a waste product of the pineapple harvest. This means that no extra energy or water resources need to be used for cultivation.

The production process uses pineapple leaves because the pineapple industry worldwide produces 40,000 tons of waste leaves per year, which are usually left to rot or burn. About 480 leaves (the waste from 16 pineapple plants) are needed to produce 1 square meter (11 square feet) of material.

What is left of the leaves is used as organic fertilizer. This process takes place directly on the pineapple plantation. The fibers are then washed, dried and then degummed. This removes adhesives from the fibers so that they can then be processed into a fiber.

A final resin coating makes the leather alternative hard-wearing and durable. PIÑATEX® is not biodegradable. GOTS certified pigments are used for the color.

PIÑATEX® is very hard-wearing, durable, flexible, breathable, water-repellent and soft.

Composition:

  • 72% PALF (fibers of the pineapple plant)
  • 18% PLA (polylactic acid) - plant-based plastic material made from corn starch, which comes from a renewable source
  • 5% Bio PU (Bio Polyurethane) - water-based PU resin
  • 5% PU (polyurethane) - PU resin

What is bamboo viscose?

To produce bamboo viscose, bamboo is broken down into cellulose in a chemical process. The cellulose solution is then pressed into thread through a spinneret under high pressure. The result is the textile bamboo fiber with a modified molecular structure. 🌱
Viscose made from bamboo is very breathable, moisture-wicking, quick-drying and heat-regulating. The material is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic, making it suitable for allergy sufferers.

Is the drinking bowl really waterproof?

We tested it for 24 hours and not a drop leaked out. To be on the safe side, please do not fill it above the top seam. The needle pierces the fabric here and there may be a leak. Of course, water can also spill over when drinking. So please keep an eye on it anyway. ☺️ 🐶💦🐱

How do I clean the drinking bowl/water bowl?

The best thing to do is to simply wipe the bowl with a damp cloth or rinse it briefly with lukewarm water. If the food has dried, you can also soak it. Important: Please only roll it up when the bowl is really dry. Otherwise, mildew or even mold can form.

How do I wash the dog hoodies?

The hoodie can be machine washed at 30°. Please turn it inside out before washing and do not use bleach. A color detergent is best.
